Congratulations to Kathleen Blum for graduating Summa cum Laude from the Master of Science in Health and Nutrition Education degree program. Kathy’s passion for health and nutrition began 18 years ago after her young daughter was diagnosed with a life-threatening peanut allergy. On a quest to find safe food, Kathy began reading labels and researching ingredients. She was shocked to learn about the toxins in our food, and made it her mission to share this information and help people transition to healthy eating and lifestyles. She is an advocate and activist for food quality and transparency, recently lobbying the U.S. Congress to ensure Americans’ right to know what’s in their food. Her holistic approach focuses on the understanding that human health is dependent upon environmental health. The knowledge she received from Hawthorn leads her forward as she teaches individuals and communities about nourishing food and healthy living, and empowers people to respect and appreciate our planet. Her thesis project is entitled Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs): Awareness, Education, and Avoidance. Best of luck and thank you for inspiring us with your actions!
