Cheryl Cole

Congratulations to Cheryl Cole for attaining the Summa Cum Laude designation upon graduating from the Nutrition Consultant program. Cheryl is dedicated to helping people with diabetes and hypoglycemia control their blood sugar and reverse the damaging effects of these conditions. She grew up in the foothills of Northern California with a love of the earth, gardening, and raising animals. Her passion stems from researching and learning all she could to help her husband who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. When western medicine did not help his situation, she tried holistic means and noticed a change in her family's overall health. The results were so positive that she decided to enroll in Hawthorn to learn more about holistic nutrition. Cheryl is excited to share her knowledge to help lead people on a path to healing and living healthy, productive lives. Best of luck, Cheryl!

Scott Kim

Congratulations to Scott Kim for graduating Magna Cum Laude from the Master of Science in Health and Nutrition Education program. Scott also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, an Associate of Science degree in Culinary Arts, a Master of Italian Regional Cooking Diploma, and is a Certified Master Food Preserver. He is a professionally trained Chef and long-time restaurateur in Mission Viejo, California. In addition to founding and operating Skimmer’s Panini Grill in Mission Viejo with his wife Mary, he is experiencing a second career as a Culinary Educator, teaching Culinary Arts in Garden Grove Unified School District at Rancho Alamitos High School in Garden Grove and also as a Lecturer at The Collins College of Hospitality Management at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. His thesis is entitled The Efficacy of the Eat Fat, Get Thin Protocol by Dr. Mark Hyman. Keep up the good work, Scott.

Patricia Rynearson

Patricia Rynearson is to be congratulated for graduating Magna Cum Laude from the Master of Science in Holistic Nutrition degree program. Patricia is a lifelong learner who also holds a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Minnesota and a M.A. in Education with specialties in English and French from St Thomas University in St Paul. She taught English, French, German and Spanish and studied French Literature through the University of Wisconsin at Madison by correspondence completing all the required courses for a M.A. in French Literature. She has had several children’s books published and continued to teach until developing a strong interest in nutrition. After 10 years of self-study, she entered Hawthorn and learned how to heal with food and supplements with the same passion she brought to learning languages. Now retired from teaching, she counsels people on nutrition through her business, Sage-nutrition.com. Her writing now consists of health blogs on her website, where she remains committed to helping others heal. Her thesis is entitled Interstitial Cystitis as a Comorbidity of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth. Great work, Patricia!

Katie believes that attaining peak health takes time and effort since most individuals aren’t aware of their current state of health, and aren’t aware of how poor their health really is. She is passionate to provide the necessary building blocks, motivation, and education to guide individuals towards optimal health.

Alison Riddiford

Congratulations to Alison Riddiford for graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Nutrition Consultant certificate program. Alison holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is a CPA with a background in public and private accounting but her true passion is holistic based health and wellness with a focus on nutrition. After struggling for years with intestinal disorders and inflammation, Alison reached out to the medical community for help but was only offered symptom management through medication. At that point, she sought to find the “why” behind her symptoms and discovered holistic medicine. This experience motivated her to enter Hawthorn to learn more. Alison is well versed in all areas of holistic nutrition, and holds a special interest in both prediabetes and food sensitivities. Her focus is on helping her clients find the balance of diet and lifestyle which best supports their individual needs.
