Congratulations to Michelle (Mulreaney) Herrmann for graduating Summa cum Laude from the Master of Science in Holistic Nutrition program. Michelle began her holistic lifestyle education in her undergraduate education at Goucher College, studying the art of dance. Dance kept her active physically and allowed her to grow emotionally and creatively. While studying dance, she began cross-training with the Pilates Method of Body Conditioning through private apparatus instruction and mat classes. Developing a deeper understanding of anatomy, kinesiology, and correct body mechanics, Michelle decided to become certified in the method. Teaching Pilates to the public brought her a greater appreciation for physical health through all life’s stages. When her mom was diagnosed with an unknown cancer, Michelle's interest in holistic health care and nutrition was peaked and she entered Hawthorn to further her education. Her thesis, The MTHFR Polymorphism supported her premise that "women who are trying to get pregnant and have the MTHFR C677T gene mutation should supplement with L-methyltetrahydrofolate instead of folic acid” and is a reflection of her interest. She plans to learn more about the field of epigenetics to provide her future clients a better picture of their own biochemical individuality. Best of luck, Michelle!
