Congratulations to Frances (Erin) Walden for receiving a Master of Science in Holistic Nutrition degree, Summa cum Laude. Erin graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in French. She began a sales career in Washington, DC upon graduation, but learned within two short years that health and nutrition, particularly for children, was her passion. She volunteered for an organization called DC Farm to School, helping to create and promote programs to improve healthy eating among area school children. For the last two and a half years, she has worked as a medical assistant with a physician who practices holistic medicine. She supports his practice and the patients he treats remotely from North Carolina where she currently lives. Erin hopes to one day operate her own business offering nutritional counseling and education to women conceiving, who are pregnant, and/or who have young children. Her thesis, Optimal Nutrition for Pregnancy: An analysis of the current USDA Guidelines and whether they adequately support the health of pregnant mothers and their developing babies, is a wonderful example of her enthusiasm in motion. Keep up the good work, Erin!
