Congratulations to Mia Ribisch who graduated Summa cum Laude from the Master of Science in Holistic Nutrition program. Mia's work in the health field reflects her holistic approach to health care, a deeply inquisitive personality, and an eagerness to guide others toward optimal health. She worked as a physical therapy aide in hospital and outreach settings, as a care provider for children with multiple physical and mental handicaps, a private tutor of anatomy, prepared botanical products for Western Botanical Medicine, and, for the last several years, provided Swedish and Esalen bodywork at the Heartwood Institute in California. Related volunteer experiences range from taking vitals at The Mobile Medical Office for low-income community members on weekends to a year-long mentoring commitment through The Compass Program in Arcata, California. Mia is currently completing the Medical Herbalism Webinar Series through the Association for the Advancement of Restorative Medicine, the Taste of Herbs series through Mountain Rose Herbs, as well as the Introduction to Global Health Webinar Series through the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Her long-term goal is to set up an international nutrition practice based on functional and herbal medicine. Her thesis, Biochemical Individuality and Genetic Uniqueness: Looking to Functional Nutrition and SNPs to Individualize Nutritional Protocols, is proof that she will attain her goal.
