In this presentation, Food Mood Expert Trudy Scott will delve into the current evidence surrounding the connection between food and mood and discuss recent studies that support this for anxiety disorders.

How to maintain a healthy and stable mood will be discussed, offering solutions for the food-mood connection such as which foods to eat, specific foods to avoid, the importance of food quality, individual nutrients to supplement, as well as considering the biochemical individuality of each individual. This presentation will provide the science behind the effects of foods on anxiety, social phobia and panic attacks. It will also address the benefits of foods and nutrients on health issues that often go hand-in-hand with anxiety disorders such as depression, addictions, emotional eating, digestive disorders and sleep disorders.

An editorial in the American Journal of Psychiatry offered a very powerful comment on three food-mood studies: “It is both compelling and daunting to consider that dietary intervention at an individual or population level could reduce rates of psychiatric disorders. There are exciting implications for clinical care, public health, and research”.
